Phi Gamma Delta also known as FIJI, was founded at Jefferson College in Pennsylvania in 1848. Currently the fraternity has over 140 active chapters across the United States and Canada as well as more than 170,000 initiated brothers. They frequently utilize the nickname FIJI because in the Phi Gamma Delta bylaws, there is a limitation of the use of Greek letters. Notable alumni include: Calvin Coolidge (13th US President), Matthew C Fox (actor) and Frederic Chapman Robbins (Nobel Prize winner)
