Phi Mu was founded at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia on January 4, 1852. It is the second oldest female fraternal organization established in the United States. Today, Phi Mu has over 120 collegiate chapters, 225 alumnae chapters and over 150,000 initiated sisters. Notable alumnae include: Jerrie Mock (1st woman to fly solo around the world), Pat Mitchell (President of PBS) and Kathryn Stockett (author of The Help).
